February Book Club: Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister

This month The Bad Girls Book Club 🙃 read Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. This was a new author for us. The Story’s tag line is, How do you stop a murder after it’s already happened? We meet a family of three late at night. The mother, Jen, is waiting up for her son to return home past curfew. It is then that she witnesses a murder involving her son.

She cannot believe what she has seen, nor how her son came to be involved. Once the situation has been addressed by the police and she is once again in her own bed, she falls asleep wondering what she can do to undo what has come to pass. When she awakes the next morning, she realizes that she is reliving the previous day again. Has she gone crazy, or has she been given a gift which will eventually unravel the events that have involved her son in a crime, and can she save him from the fate which awaits him?

Wrong Place, Wrong Time

My Recommendation

Our group overwhelmingly enjoyed reading this book, myself included. The author’s use of having Jen travel backward in time was an interesting way of having both Jen and the reader learn the back story of what has led to the moment in time during which the book opens, the murder.

Although I found a few inconsistencies in the story line, I still very much enjoyed reading the book and puzzling out the conclusion. Highly recommended! Next month we are reading The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. I’ll be back with my thoughts then. I’d love to hear what books you’ve been reading. 💜
