The First Nor’easter of the 2024 Season

We have a long history of nor’easters in the Northeast… hence the name. πŸ˜‚ Not perhaps as long a history as John losing his phone… but that’s a story for another time πŸ™„…

Nor’easters can really pack a wallop and the first one of the 2024 season can put everyone on edge, particularly since this year, it will also bring our first snowfall. I predict that grocery store shelves are being emptied of bread and milk as we speak! 🍞πŸ₯› Tomorrow is our usual grocery shopping day, so I hope we won’t be left without bread and milk lol. Either way, we’ll make do with what we have and what we can get. πŸ˜‰

Be Prepared

We are not predicted to get a heavy snowfall, but we will be prepared for whatever comes our way. In the past, that would mean filling up our bathtubs with water and piling up as much firewood as humanly possible to be prepared for a power outage. Those were the days. 🀣

Now we have “city” water and a gas fueled fireplace. The water shouldn’t be an issue, but we *will* need electricity to run the fireplace, so we will be keeping our fingers crossed there. Luckily we have lots of blankets and a puppy dog who loves to snuggle, so I think we’ll be okay. 🐢

The Outcome

Update… the nor’easter was a bust, as far as nor’easters are concerned. We had light snow and very little wind. I am *not* sorry that we didn’t lose power, but I *was* hoping for a nice blanket of snow. ❄ Ah well…

Skye's Footprints in the Snow Nor'easter 2024

No more snow was expected today (only rain), so when I saw more fluffy snowflakes coming down, I announced, “it’s snowing!” and John chuckled and said, “you’re just like a little kid”, which I guess is true. As a kid snow always seemed so magical. It could mean a white Christmas, a snowball fight, making snowmen, a snowy walk in the woods… so many things… and seeing it now brings those feelings back to me. πŸ’œ

I hope everyone else’s nor’easter experience was as easy as ours. Enjoy the snow. ❄❄❄
